Predictive text is useless when trying to translate one language to another. How do I disable it?

Predictive text is enabled by default at the OS level. We don't have a custom keyboard in our app, so we are stuck with whatever keyboard the user has selected.

It's easy to hide the predictive text bar, and equally easy to bring it back. If you want to completely disable it, that can be done in iOS settings.
To hide the bar, go to the text editor screen, and once the keyboard shows up, swipe down - starting just a few pixels above the predictive text bar, ending a few pixels below.
To show the bar, do the opposite - swipe up from below the (collapsed) predictive text bar.
